A 'Traffic Management Plan' for Kingsbridge

Early this year, Devon County Council made it known that it intended to introduce Pay & Display parking meters on Fore Street in Kingsbridge, as it had done in a number of other towns.  There was considerable public concern, and Kingsbridge & Salcombe Chamber of Commerce set up a public meeting in January, with Cllr Stuart Hughes (elected CDCC Cabinet member with a portfolio for Highways) in attandance.

As a result of the groundswell of opposition, Devon County Council backed down at the meeting, and has (at least for now) scrapped the plan for pay & display meters on Kingsbridge streets.  The Council proposed instead that there will be a process of producing an overall traffic management plan for Kingsbridge instead.  Kingsbridge Agenda 21 made it clear at the public meeting that it wished to take part in this process, and the Town Council have put our name forward.

Meetings are due to start soon, and if anyone would like to express a view to this group to take forward to those discussions, please contact or on 01548 857603.
